welcome back world English (UK)

Hello again to all my thousands of regular readers.

This evening I foreswore the possibility of sex to risk my life stepping out onto the road to find out what the noise was all about, and spend my otherwise quiet evening manually copying and pasting source code from Google cache pages into B2 Evolution and thereby replacing the thousands of words of meaningless rants that were otherwise lost to the whims of Kristopher E. Borodiansky president of ProHosted Technologies, LLC who chose to take down my site and then ignore all attempts to ask why (in fairness, I am waiting to be ignored one more time - you never know).

Anyway I can't say I'm all that fussed about the company any longer, and I can't see myself recommending them again.

The reconstructed pages may not look quite right, and I haven't bothered to restore the very old b2 archive. Comments to the blog have also been lost, which is a shame because I was chuffed to have received some positive attention from friends such as Adam and also a positive comment by Dana Blakenhorn which I really appreciated (Dana counts Pamela Jones as a fan).

Oh well, better to be battered, bruised and online than out of gas and drifting.

Host Gator, pretty solid looking. Much better cPanel implementation than your last recommendation and cheaper too.

Simon,

Thanks for being slanderous and posting my name here. Your site was taken down, due to the fact which was explained to you, that you were using your account to DDoS other folks via scripts on one of your sites, under a subaccount you had created. Sorry, ProHosted doesn't look twice before shutting down an offender in such a serious matter. We have our clients and ourselves to consider before allowing an offender to continue taking such actions. With this said, you were responded to several times with the reasoning and you chose to take the actions you did (switching hosts), and I wish the best luck to Host Gator once they discover your actions, if you continue to execute them with your new host, that is. On top of that, you were found to be using a stolen credit card to pay for your hosting.

Thank you for getting in touch. I am a little confused as to why the email and telephone contact details I gave you did not enable you to sucesssfuly contact me confidentially or in a more timely manner. I won't dwell on it though, since there were some issues with routing email which were caused by the suspension and that probably explains it.

I will concede that your decision may have been a matter of policy rather than a whim, as I called it in the posting. I will leave it to the reader to decide if that is a good, and properly applied, policy.

As for accusations of DDoSing sites via scripts. I was only using scripts supplied by your company which I had configured using configuration files and web based GUIs. None of those were DDoS scripts.

Since you mention it, the same scripts are running on this host. At least one of those scripts does include an anti-spam feature that verifies referring pages include incomming links. Those might generate a lot of traffic, but no more traffic than, say, a few more pages.

Of course, whenever a card is stolen there is both a criminal and a victim involved. I think we can stipulate that I am one of those two individuals. If you check your records you will find a fax from me supplying you with details of my replacement card. I remember we did speak together about this and I have emails from you mentioning it dated January 4th 2005.

Do be careful with your use of the word "slander".

Simon,

The scripts in question were not the ones provided by us, nor cPanel. They were uploaded there and executed VIA the web as shell access was not enabled on the account. I did in fact attempt to contact you several times at the e-mail address you used to contact me with the initial questioning of your account being shut down. As far as the credit card being stolen, my processor contacted me informing me of this, and to NOT honor the card. When I am faced with facts, I am forced to act accordingly. If you say as you do that you are innocent, I do extend my apologies as this would have all been a huge misunderstanding and an unfortunate incident.

Kindest regards,

Kristopher

Wow, three exclamation marks! Thanks Addam.

I think Kris' final sentance sums it all up. That's life I guess.

the fourth place

Sometimes when there's a lot going on in your head its nice to get it out on paper. Paper's too old fashioned so this programmer does it online. I'm 25 living in London and trying to develop an intelligent opinion about how the world should work. I'm not all there yet, so do help me out.
